The Seven (7) Learning Styles

When we are discovering our Learning Styles the importance of this is to understand the difference between the types of learners.

Where do we go from here?

We research …

  • Every one of us is an individual …
  • We have different Personalities and Learning Styles abilities.
  • What may work for you may not work for someone else.

Books and websites are a start!

Your local library – you can use to research and ask the reference librarian

guidance counsellor at your school or college for some information

  3. Verbal
  4. Physical
  5. Solitary
  6. Logical 
  7. Social

During the month of July, we will acknowledge that there are seven (7) Learning Styles throughout this month! What you will realise is that we often associate with several of these styles.

  • Why these questions?
  • What does this mean?
  • What are the values behind all these?

The logic behind this is to make you think about yourself and why we have these qualities within us.

Visual Learners often pursue careers such as:

  • An Architecture 
  • Engineering
  • Project Management
  • Designer

Visual Learners tends to find it easier to understand something if it is in a form of a diagrams; Concept or knowledge of maps use visual symbols to express thoughts of ideas and the relationships between them by using colour coding to group ideas. This is a combination of visual or spatial learners.

Do we need to draw things out?  =      Visual Learners (Spatial)

Aural Learners often pursue careers such as:

  • Musician 
  • Recording Engineer
  • Speech Pathologist
  • Language Teacher

Aural Learners style and/or aptitude to notice audible signals for instance:

  • Changes to tone or pitch
  • Hearing the information to fully understand it
  • Memorising a phone number(s)
  • Group discussions are a great way to gasp new ideas

Do You Dislike Reading?

If you need someone to tell you something out loud to understand it =    Aural (Auditory-Musical)

Verbal Learners often pursue careers such as:

  • Public Speaking
  • Writing
  • Administration
  • Journalism
  • Politics

If you find yourself writing or speaking; love to write and read; enjoy playing on the meaning or sound of words such as tongue twisters and/or rhymes; you are a Verbal Learner.

Do You Love Words and Writing? =     Verbal (Linguistic)

Physical Learner often pursue careers such as:

  • Emergency Services
  • Safety Representative
  • Entertainment (Acting or Dance)

Are You a Hands – On Type of Person? =           Physical (Kinaesthetic)

Logical Learner often pursue careers such as:

  • Scientific Research
  • Accountancy
  • Bookkeeping
  • Computer Programming

Logical Learner loves numbers, spreadsheets especially excel in numbers, doing complex calculations such as trigonometry but most of all using their brains for logical and mathematical reasoning.

Are You Great with Numbers? =            Logical (Mathematics)

Social Learner often pursue careers such as:

  • Counselling
  • Teaching
  • Training and Coaching
  • Sales
  • Politics
  • Human Resources

Social Learner qualities are in their social skills.

  • Communicating with various people
  • Verbally and Non-verbally communication
  • Listen well and empathise with what others are thinking and going through

Are You A People Person? =    Social (Interpersonal)

Solitary Learner often pursue careers such as:

  • Animal Care & Service Workers
  • Auditing Clerks
  • Hospital Medical Records Technicians
  • Long Haul Truckers
  • Film/Video Editors
  • Astronomers

Solitary Learning style is commonly known as:

  • Private
  • Independent
  • Introspective

They love to be in focus on their thoughts and feelings without the distractions of others.
